All dairy, creamers, and juices with pulp should be stopped the night before at the time you stop eating food.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No smoking, chewing tobacco, or other tobacco products 24 hours prior to the start of your procedure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your current medications: please consult your primary care provider and surgical provider if you should continue or temporarily stop any of your current medications. We will contact you to review your medications with you prior to your surgical procedure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The following are examples of medications that need to be evaluated by your primary care physician and\/or surgeon: Coumadin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Vitamin E, fish oils, or other blood-thinners, medications for blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, seizures, and breathing conditions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please leave all valuables, including jewelry, at home.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wear comfortable and appropriate clothing for your type of surgery.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do not wear jewelry, body piercings, makeup, or perfume.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please shower or bathe, preferably with antibacterial soap (ex. Dial) prior to your surgical procedure to decrease the risk of infection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please make arrangements for a responsible adult over the age of 18 to drive you to and from UCHealth Cherry Creek North Surgery Center on the day of your surgery, and to remain with you at your home overnight if you will be receiving any sedation or anesthesia for your surgery or procedure.<\/li>\n\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"su-note\"  style=\"border-color:#8c0326;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\"><div class=\"su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"background-color:#a61d40;border-color:#ffe9ff;color:#ffffff;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\">\n<p>If you have questions, or feel you cannot comply with these guidelines, please call the UCHealth Cherry Creek North Surgery Center at the number above.<\/p>\n<p>A member of the UCHealth Pre-Anesthesia Call Center will call you before your scheduled surgery. During the call we will review your health history, medications, past surgeries, allergies and other information about your current health status, as well as how best to prepare for your visit. Your comfort and safety are our top priority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The operating room nurse will greet you and assist you onto the table, make you comfortable, and apply monitors. The amount and type of discomfort varies, based on your perception of pain and your procedure. We will customize your pain management to meet your needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your family member will be able to be with you as soon as your vital signs are stable and you are awake. As soon as you feel like drinking and\/or eating, the nurse will offer you something to drink and\/or eat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you are ready to go home, the nurse will go over your individualized discharge instructions. It is important that you and your family member understand the directions for your care after your surgery.
