I believe in a team approach for patient care, not only utilizing the medical team and the cancer center’s resources but also involving the patient’s family and their support system. Having honest conversations about expectations and goals of care requires trust in a provider/team and I strive to earn that trust.
I understand that a patient’s needs may change through treatments, and therefore flexibility and on-going communication are essential qualities in a provider. It is important to me to be available to discuss disease processes, labs, and provide support when plans change, and that patients (and family) understand the plan and are comfortable with the next steps.
It is my experience that every patient/situation is unique and requires individualized care.
