During my second year in physician assistant school, I was selected for the Health Professions Scholarship Program. This allowed me to join the U.S. Air Force and work as a physician assistant. I spent the next 8.5 years working as a military PA and completed a general surgery fellowship. My time in the Air Force taught me integrity, discipline and placing others first. The fellowship taught me work ethic, importance of evidence-based medicine and teamwork. These skills assist me in practicing the best, safest medicine I possibly can. I strive to be transparent/honest with my patients and timely with all communications. I understand the significance of lifelong learning in medicine, and how it benefits positive patient outcomes. I believe in a multidisciplinary (teamwork) approach to patient care. This gives me the assurance my patients’ needs are being met and they are receiving the highest standard of care. When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my beautiful wife and daughter. My hobbies include triathlon training, chess, tennis, snowboarding and traveling. The only continent I haven’t stepped foot on is Antarctica.
