I was introduced to rheumatology while in high school when my father was diagnosed with a complex rheumatic disease. He had visited many doctors when an astute dermatologist pieced together the constellation of symptoms into one diagnosis. As he received his care, I witnessed the need for a coordinated team across primary and specialty care and this stuck with me. My decision to be a rheumatologist was impacted greatly by this experience, and by the appeal of solving the diagnostic challenges that rheumatology presents. I strive to guide patients in navigating their healthcare experience. I work hard to ease the challenges of multispecialty care by collaborating with colleagues and all team members. Through the process, I relish developing lasting relationships with my patients. I am especially grateful when my patients share personal stories that allow me to further understand their health and lifestyle priorities. Most recently, I served as a clinical educator for the Department of Veterans Affairs, supervising residents and medical students as they provided care to our nation’s veterans. I hope to continue to care for military members and veterans. I plan to use my education skills to teach my individual patients and the greater UCHealth community about rheumatologic disorders. As a New York City native, I had the privilege of growing up in a multicultural environment. I studied French language and literature during my undergraduate years. I have maintained a global perspective in my medical career and have worked overseas as a physician in France, Spain, Africa, and as the director of a medical volunteer program in Cambodia. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends in Colorado and beyond. I am an avid photographer, an aspiring yogi, and a world traveler. Interés de investigación para los pacientes

My past research focused on improving healthcare quality particularly for patients who have complex rheumatic disease to ensure that their care is well coordinated. I have an interest in improving care and the patient experience in general and have worked in this research area in various settings. I will continue to work in the area of quality improvement.

In my rheumatology fellowship training and beyond, my research focused on particular manifestations of systemic lupus erythematosus and why they differ in severity for patients of different gender and ethnicity.

I have an interest as well in art and medicine and have studied how illness can effect an artists' artistic style.
