As both an academic and caregiver at heart, I have developed a love for how intellectual challenges and long-term patient relationships intersect within the field of neurology. I am passionate about patient education and believe that this is essential in facilitating the best partnership between patient and provider. I endeavor to truly listen to patient concerns, and to use my training and experience to help patients understand how their whole-person health (body, mind and spirit) affects their neurologic symptoms so that they can feel supported and empowered to take the best possible care of themselves when they leave my clinic.
I am a rare Colorado Springs native and feel blessed with the wonderful family and friends that I have here. Outside of work, I enjoy playing concertina and fiddle at traditional Irish music sessions around town, cooking, traveling, board games, raising backyard chickens, and taking advantage of living so close to the Colorado mountains. I try to be a good practitioner of my frequent advice to patients to take time to mindfully pause the frenetic pace of life to simply “be”.

While I enjoy working with patients across the spectrum of neurologic conditions, I have a particular interest in the diagnosis and ongoing management of Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders. I believe that a strong partnership between patient, family, neurology provider and physical therapy/rehab greatly improves symptom control, safety and overall quality of life. I have many years of training and experience in patient selection and programming for deep brain stimulation (DBS). I also have a strong interest in neuroplasticity and neurofeedback.
